Hilton in drink-driving arrest

PARIS Hilton was arrested in Hollywood early yesterday on suspicion of drink-driving.The socialite and singer was arrested shortly after midnight because she was “driving erratically”, police said.
“The officers observed that Hilton exhibited the symptoms of intoxication,” said a police statement. “A field sobriety test was conducted at scene, and the officers determined she was driving under the influence.”
Hilton was booked on suspicion of a misdemeanour and driving under the influence, but was released.
Her spokesman, Elliot Mintz, said she had the minimum blood-alcohol level to warrant an arrest. The legal limit in California is 0.08 per cent.
Hilton was driving her Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren home from a charity event where she had one drink, a margarita, Mr Mintz said. She had spent the day shooting a music video for her new album, Paris.
The arrest was “probably the result of an empty stomach and working all day and being fatigued”, he claimed.
Video footage posted on the celebrity website TMZ.com shows Hilton arriving home after her release in Mr Mintz’s Mercedes, getting out of the passenger side with a mobile phone to her ear and saying something inaudible to paparazzi.
